This compact house, which stands on 100 square meters of land, has a spacious impression thanks to the application of the concept of space efficiency and open layout plan. The play of ceiling heights adds to the varied space experience.
A comfortable residence does not always have to be large. Architect Hafiz Supriharjo answered that challenge through the DR House renovation project. He tries to maximize space by arranging the layout efficiently so that it is functionally dense. "To avoid feeling cramped, we minimized the use of solid walls," says the Prim + Associates architect.
Instead, a partition shelf was inserted to separate the entrance and living room. The application of an open layout plan in the living room-dining-kitchen area adds a sense of spaciousness in the midst of a lot of storage needs. "The use of bright color schemes such as white and beige for wall paint and the many glass openings outside the house also help to give a more spacious impression," Hafiz added.
The ceiling in the dining area is made higher at 3.5 meters to make it look spacious. Meanwhile, the living area is made low with a height of 2.7 meters to give an intimate and warm feel.
The aesthetically pleasing compact house consists of 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom and a workspace. There is a garden at the back of the house that connects these spaces. Although covered by a polycarbonate canopy, there are still gaps for wind to enter. Optimization of air circulation and natural lighting is also supported by wide openings in the house. (lai/c6/nor)
HIGHLIGHT
The ceiling in the dining room is raised to 3.5 meters, while in the living room area it is lower, at 2.7 meters.
To accommodate the need for a lot of storage space, storage cabinets were inserted in every corner of the room, from the entrance, kitchen, workspace, to the bedroom.
The garden at the back of the house creates a focal point that connects the living room, study and master suite. The semi-outdoor garden is protected from rain and heat by a canopy roof.
